A brief Why

We can think about Earth’s health the same way we think about health in our own lives. Like people, our planet can only withstand so much stress before vital parts collapse. Human activities are pushing the planetary system beyond the limits that define the safe operating space for all of us. 

Societies and systems rarely collapse suddenly. Rather, they gradually become insufficient. This is why the unfolding crisis affects people, geographies, species, and generations so unequally. As we overstep the boundaries, more and more parts of the world become difficult or impossible to live in.

Working across sectors, countries, and cultures has introduced me to the best of human ingenuity and reinforced my belief in our collective potential. My perspective is based on a simple premise: we must act with courage, care, and curiosity. This means embracing openness, hard work, and science. It also means responding to ambiguity with a commitment to finding and deploying solutions at scale, not with fear. 

These challenges require the concerted efforts of organizations and institutions working together. This is why my work today focuses on guiding organizations through the two most significant transitions of our era: sustainability and digitalization. By uniting these two forces, we can build pathways to a just and thriving future.
